Workshop: Parallel Computing with GPUs

A one-day workshop on "Parallel Computing with GPUs (Graphics Processing Unit)" was conducted by GPU Centre of Excellence (GCOE), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay on 30th April, 2016 at Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Majhitar, East Sikkim. The key speaker of the workshop was Prof. Paluri S. V. Nataraj, Principal Investigator, GCOE, IIT Bombay. There was participation from the students as well as faculty members from various departments of the institution.  The workshop was conducted in three sessions. The first session was initiated by Prof. P.S.V Nataraj on the “ Basics of MATLAB”. The second session focused on the “Basics of Parallel Computing”.  The final session was a session on “Demonstrated and The Implementation of Parallel Computing in MATLAB”.  The workshop was attended by around 100 participants.

At the end of the workshop Prof. P.S.V Nataraj motivated the students and the faculty members to take initiatives in this field through innovative ideas and research. He also briefed the audience about the offerings of GCOE Viz: support to HPC (High Performance Computing) based Scientific Initiatives, Software Development Projects, HPC based infrastructure expansion etc. The workshop was widely appreciated by the students as well as the faculty members of the Institute.
