Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), was awarded an NVIDIA GPU Center of Excellence (GCOE) in the year 2013. IITB hosts India’s first GCOE that serves as a hub for all heterogeneous high performance computing activities in the country. IITB was earlier awarded several CUDA Research Centers and a CUDA Teaching center that helped train many students and execute key projects in Heterogeneous computing.
The vision of the GCOE at IITB is to provide infrastructure, knowledge, research, and education in heterogeneous computing to a wide scientific community in the country. GCOE plays major role in promoting and supporting GPGPU computing by supporting HPC infrastructure development, student internships and research publications. We develop awareness by organizing GPU workshops and Bootcamps, and collaborate with industries and government organizations all over India.
The GCOE at IITB will utilize equipment and grant provided by NVIDIA to support a number of research projects in the areas of Atmosphere and Ocean modeling, Bioinformatics, Circuit Simulation, Computer/GPU architecture, Computer Graphics and Vision, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Global Optimization, Molecular Dynamics, and Reliable Computing.
